Portland Timbers have extended their unbeaten run in MLS football to eight games after they avoided defeat against Inter Miami in their latest league outing. Jaroslaw Niezgoda was the hero for Portland Timbers during the MLS football matchup after he came off the bench to score the winner in a 1-0 win over Inter Miami.

Niezgoda scored the only goal of the MLS football clash played on Sunday with seven minutes left on the clock.

Portland Timbers were the favourites ahead of their game with Inter Miami at home and they had to wait till the final ten minutes to score the goal that clinched the three points on offer. The result between Portland Timbers and Inter Miami showed that the two clubs are heading in different directions.

While Portland Timbers are on an impressive run of eight games without a defeat, Inter Miami have lost their last four games. The win over Inter Miami ensured that Portland Timbers moved to 46 points after a record of 14 wins, four draws and ten losses from 28 games as they consolidated their fourth position in the Western Conference. Timbers are now two points off Colorado Rapids in third place after they were beaten 3-0 at the home of Western Conference leaders Seattle Sounders in their latest league game. It must be pointed out that Colorado Rapids have a game in hand over Portland Timbers. The Western Conference is very tight at the moment with six points separating the top four teams. Seattle Sounders are on 54 points and they have two more points than Sporting Kansas City in second place.

On their part, Inter Miami are outside the top ten as far as the Eastern Conference is concerned. They are on a four-match losing run thus taking their record to nine wins, five draws and 13 losses. The Phil Neville-led team is 11th on the log with 32 points.
